About the role
Assess, treat, and care for patients with breathing disorders. Assume primary responsibility for all respiratory care modalities, including the supervision of respiratory therapy students and new graduates. Initiate and conduct therapeutic procedures; maintain patient records; and select, assemble, check, and operate equipment.
Requirements
- Minimum Education: Graduate of Registry Level Respiratory Care Program
- Registered Respiratory Therapist Credential: NBRC
- Minimum Work Experience: No previous experience required
- Required Licenses/Certifications:
- State of Texas licensure in Respiratory Care
- Annual renewal of National Board for Respiratory Care active status for therapists subject to the Continuing Competency Program (CCP)
- Graduate Therapists must obtain CRT credentials and then test for RRT credential and NBRC Credential active status within 1 year of graduation
- Additional Certifications:
- BLS - must be completed before initiating patient contact
- ACLS - must be completed within six (6) months
- ENPC or PALS - must be completed within one (1) year
- NRP - must be completed within one (1) year

- Maintain work area according to OSHA and NIOSH standards
