Summary
The Senior Clinical Therapist will provide clinic and community-based services to adults with significant mental health concerns. The position is part of a multidisciplinary team designed to assist clients with meeting personal objectives for improving mental health and co-occurring conditions. Therapist will apply clinical skills to provide behavioral health treatment and support to meet the needs of clients. The clinician’s primary goals are to:
- Assess the biopsychosocial and safety needs of the clients and determining treatment strategies
- Guide the person-centered treatment planning process
- Provide therapy according to the identified evidence-based practice strategies
- Work collaboratively with the team to promote, improve and sustain the overall wellness of the target population
Responsibilities
- Conducts biopsychosocial assessment of clients upon entry to program and annually thereafter, completing case formulations that guide in developing treatment plan goals
- Conducts risk assessments and corresponding safety plans upon entry and continuously reviews and updates them
- Guides clients to clarify goals and helpful interventions through the person-centered treatment planning process, to learn new skills that support behavior change and increase coping strategies, and to assess progress
- Uses Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavior Therapy to engage and treat clients, and other evidence-based practices as identified for targeted populations
- Provides psychoeducation to clients and families
- Supports clients as they work towards their employment/educational goals
- Provides clinical services as identified in the treatment plan in the home, at a Center facility, and in the community
- Remains current on available community resources relevant to clinical assignment and accesses them as needed
- Maintains frequent communication and collaborative relationships with client, team members, and community providers and partners to ensure coordinated care
- Maintains performance standards according to professional competencies and fidelity to the evidence-based treatment models
- Contributes knowledge and expertise to the team in case review and team meetings
- Attends supervision, agency, and team meetings as scheduled
- Maintains detailed, accurate, and timely documentation in medical record
- Enhances professional expertise through educational activities and trainings
- Follows agency policies and standards for client rights and confidentiality, and ethical standards for profession
- Meets requirements for client contact time according to treatment plan, and for agency productivity targets
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Master’s degree in social work, mental health counseling, or marriage and family therapy and on an independent licensing track with the RI Department of Health
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Analytical skills necessary to evaluate clients’ mental health needs and to formulate and implement a treatment plan
- Knowledge of human development and family systems issues
- Advocacy and teaching skills
- Valid driver's license and use of car in order to perform the major functions of the job
- Automobile liability insurance coverage for vehicle being used in accordance with Center requirements
- Ability to work collaboratively as a team to coordinate care for clients with intensive behavioral health needs
