About the Role
The Clinical Supervisor assists the Clinical Director in overseeing and developing the Clinical department, including hiring, supervision, evaluation, and scheduling. This role provides clinical training to staff and interns, offers both clinical and personnel supervision, and supports the Clinical Director in coordinating administrative tasks. The ideal candidate is an assertive communicator, completes tasks with urgency, and supports the clinical team daily.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and oversee all aspects of the clinical department in the absence of the Clinical Director.
- Conduct group supervision twice monthly and individual supervision once a month.
- Communicate staff challenges to the Clinical Director and recommend improvement plans for clinical team members.
- Assist in hiring by conducting interviews for new clinical team members.
- Initiate, implement, and monitor compliance with evidence-based practices.
- Collaborate with the management team to ensure communication and coordination between departments and participate in strategic planning.
- Provide regular clinical training to clinical services staff and interns.
- Lead daily staff briefing meetings.
- Redirect clients into appropriate programs of care when necessary.
- Contact family members to discuss client support needs.
- Conduct therapeutic services as needed by the organization.
- Review and audit clinical paperwork.
- Implement and follow Departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
- Follow up on step-down plans, insurance, and discharges with Case Management.
- Daily communication with the Clinical Director to develop group schedules and staff assignments.
- Accept assignment of AOC (Administrator on Call) on a rotating basis.
- Assist in completing overflow clinical tasks.
- Meet with clients for crisis assessment, suicide assessments, and safety plans.
- Review and communicate UR (Utilization Review) review dates.
- Read and respond to UR and Medical Request emails.
- Maintain reliability and consistency in attendance and punctuality.
- Represent the organization professionally and adhere to all policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively with all departments within the company.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in a mental health-related field (psychology, social work, marriage & family, or mental health counseling) required.
- Must be licensed (LMHC, LCSW, LMFT, LCDC) in the state of practice with a current and active license in good standing.
- 2+ years of progressively responsible experience in mental health and substance use program management, including staff supervision and team development.
- Experience preferred in chemical dependency, substance use, psychiatric settings, or human services.
- Proficiency in providing direction, influencing, coaching, developing others, motivation, fostering teamwork, managing conflict, decision-making, effective communication, and active listening.
- Strong management, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under stressful conditions and adapt to department needs.
- Knowledge of HIPAA laws, Drug-Free Workplace Policies, Workplace Violence, and Corporate Integrity and Compliance Programs.
- Strong computer literacy and familiarity with current technology.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Regularly required to talk or hear.
- Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit.
- Occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
