Erlanger Health System seeks a registered professional nurse to practice nursing according to the state’s Nurse Practice Act, Erlanger’s Models of Care/Practice, policies, and procedures. The nurse delivers patient care, supervises qualified staff, and coordinates care with other healthcare professionals to address physical, spiritual, emotional, and educational needs of patients.
Responsibilities
- Utilize hand-off communication and bedside shift report to effectively communicate with the healthcare team.
- Maintain a safe therapeutic environment by complying with hospital policies/procedures and identifying/communicating risks.
- Perform and document comprehensive, holistic assessments; interpret and respond to abnormal diagnostic data.
- Anticipate potential emergency situations and intervene safely, seeking assistance if needed.
- Develop a relationship with patient/family to facilitate mutual involvement in care planning.
- Demonstrate basic critical thinking skills and document concisely, accurately, and completely.
- Complete population-specific mandatory education competencies as defined by unit scope of service.
- Provide culturally competent care and demonstrate awareness of evidence-based practice.
- Manage time effectively, meet punctuality/attendance expectations, and demonstrate scheduling flexibility.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Implement the plan of care and identify resources to meet patient needs.
- Identify and communicate changes in patient conditions that may impact staffing or safe care.
- Contribute to a healthy work environment through professional behavior and conflict resolution.
- Complete hospital and unit-based competencies and mandatory education programs.
- Demonstrate knowledge of and contribute to unit-based performance improvement outcomes.
- Update individual matrix with accomplishments reflecting professional development (Customer-Focus, Cost-Effective Care, Communication, Competent Care, Compassionate Care).
Requirements
- Current licensure to practice nursing in the state of employment.
- BLS certification completed prior to unit assignment and maintained.
- PALS certification within one year of hire.
- For non-Tennessee residents: Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state within three months of hire.
Qualifications
- Required: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Preferred: Nationally recognized certification in area of practice.
- Preferred: Prior experience in a similar care setting.
