Clinical Staff Leader - Out-Patient Surgery - PACU - Full-Time

Erlanger Health System seeks a registered professional nurse to practice nursing according to the state’s Nurse Practice Act, Erlanger’s Models of Care/Practice, policies, and procedures. The nurse delivers patient care, supervises qualified staff, and coordinates care with other healthcare professionals to address physical, spiritual, emotional, and educational needs of patients.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize hand-off communication and bedside shift report to effectively communicate with the healthcare team.
  • Maintain a safe therapeutic environment by complying with hospital policies/procedures and identifying/communicating risks.
  • Perform and document comprehensive, holistic assessments; interpret and respond to abnormal diagnostic data.
  • Anticipate potential emergency situations and intervene safely, seeking assistance if needed.
  • Develop a relationship with patient/family to facilitate mutual involvement in care planning.
  • Demonstrate basic critical thinking skills and document concisely, accurately, and completely.
  • Complete population-specific mandatory education competencies as defined by unit scope of service.
  • Provide culturally competent care and demonstrate awareness of evidence-based practice.
  • Manage time effectively, meet punctuality/attendance expectations, and demonstrate scheduling flexibility.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Implement the plan of care and identify resources to meet patient needs.
  • Identify and communicate changes in patient conditions that may impact staffing or safe care.
  • Contribute to a healthy work environment through professional behavior and conflict resolution.
  • Complete hospital and unit-based competencies and mandatory education programs.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and contribute to unit-based performance improvement outcomes.
  • Update individual matrix with accomplishments reflecting professional development (Customer-Focus, Cost-Effective Care, Communication, Competent Care, Compassionate Care).

Requirements

  • Current licensure to practice nursing in the state of employment.
  • BLS certification completed prior to unit assignment and maintained.
  • PALS certification within one year of hire.
  • For non-Tennessee residents: Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state within three months of hire.

Qualifications

  • Required: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
  • Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Preferred: Nationally recognized certification in area of practice.
  • Preferred: Prior experience in a similar care setting.

Schedule

  • Out-Patient Surgery - PACU
  • 3 shifts of 12 hours (3 - 12’s)
