About the role

We are seeking a committed professional to join our Neuromodulation team, required to reside within the territory and drive to multiple accounts throughout the region. This field-based role supports the Neuromodulation Pain and Target Drug Delivery Therapies in surgical coverage, follow-up support, troubleshooting, customer service, and education. The position includes basic market development activities and may require travel outside the territory, including occasional overnight stays.

As part of Medtronic’s Neuroscience portfolio, you will contribute to improving the lives of people living with neurological disorders, spine conditions, and chronic pain through advanced therapies such as spinal cord stimulation and targeted drug delivery systems.

Responsibilities

  • Represent Medtronic as a device specialist during surgical procedures by ensuring all necessary equipment and products are available, providing technical support, device selection, and performing programming and testing of all device systems.
  • Manage patients through all phases of the clinical process and educate them on the features and benefits of Medtronic products.
  • Provide clinical support in surgeries, re-programmings, troubleshooting, and follow-ups in hospitals and clinics.
  • Educate and train physicians, hospital personnel, and office staff on products and therapies through one-on-one sessions, formal in-services, education programs, seminars, and symposia.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to device-related inquiries from customers and patients.
  • Be flexible with schedule, including working outside normal business hours, weekends, and attending clinical events as needed.
  • Adhere to company policies, comply with event reporting and documentation, and utilize Medtronic technology tools.
  • Manage inventory for case coverage, including timely transactions, maintaining cycle count accuracy, executing product retrievals, and ensuring no expired or on-hold product is implanted.
  • Contribute to quarterly goals by partnering with colleagues and communicating effectively with leadership.
  • Regularly visit accounts to establish and maintain relationships with office staff and healthcare providers.
  • Place orders for pending purchase orders and product replacement, and work with materials management to collect POs for cases covered within the territory.
  • Ensure personal understanding of all applicable quality policies and system items.
  • Assist in the education and training of new employees within the district.
  • Effectively use Excel, mobile devices, iPads, laptops, and/or Samsung tablets.
  • Manage business expenses and budget within the given timeframe.
  • Mentor Associate Clinical Specialists.
  • Complete all new hire therapy trainings and corporate compliance training as directed.
  • Travel within the district and occasionally to other districts to cover cases as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED with 6 years of clinical or medical sales experience; or an Associate’s degree with 4 years of clinical or medical sales experience; or a Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of clinical or medical sales experience.
  • Valid driver’s license, active vehicle insurance, and a clean driving record. Must be able to drive approximately 50% of the time within the assigned territory and may require overnight travel.
  • Ability to serve as the primary resource for scheduled and unscheduled clinical events, including working weekends, evenings, and nights.
  • Ability to work efficiently and autonomously with little direction outside of clinical events.
  • Ability to attend national meetings, district meetings, and other training as requested.
  • Ability to wear a 7-9 lbs protective lead apron for extended periods in the operating room.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and/or walk for 8+ hours per day, and bend, stoop, squat, and balance frequently.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field (preferred).
  • Registered nurse or healthcare professional (HCP) with experience in a sterile environment.
  • Clinical experience with implantable neurological products and patient care.
  • Experience servicing medical personnel on product use.
  • Experience with a medical device company or pharmaceutical company, particularly in neurology, neurosurgery, orthopedics, operating room, pain management, or home health care.
  • Understanding of basic reimbursement and the healthcare environment.

  • Base salary range: $76,000–$114,000 (USD) for U.S. locations, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate may vary based on experience, certification, market conditions, and location.
