Skills & Requirements

  • Required master's degree in nursing
  • Required licenses/certifications in the following by Texas Board of Nursing or Nursing Licensure Compact and American Heart Association: RN - Lic-Registered Nurses, BLS - Cert-Basic Life Support
  • Required at least 4 years of experience in nursing for specified patient population
  • Pediatric Hematology/Oncology experience

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serves as an advanced clinical practitioner
  • Collaborates with the health care team to help plan, implement and evaluate the treatment approach using theoretical knowledge, sound judgment and problem-solving
  • Acts as a clinical resource to staff and other members of the health care team seeking to improve quality and safety of patient care
  • Utilized by the leadership team for expertise related to unit/system issues
  • Assesses the learning needs of staff, family, and patients
  • Facilitates the acquisition of knowledge through formal and informal teaching
  • Consistently applies new knowledge relevant to pediatric nursing to clinical practice
  • Participates in the efforts of the Quality Outcomes Program and/or unit-based quality initiatives by coordinating, developing, implementing, and monitoring quality initiatives that promote clinical outcomes and demonstrate nursing excellence
  • Supports and facilitates the attainment of institutional goals and strategic plans
