About the role

The Connecticut Department of Correction seeks a highly motivated and experienced licensed Clinical Social Worker to provide clinical social work services in a state agency behavioral health program. This position is accountable for independently providing clinical social work services as a member of a multi-disciplinary clinical team or within a network of community-based behavioral health services.

Responsibilities

  • Develops psychosocial assessments through clinical interviews with assigned clients and families, considering developmental, social, cultural, substance abuse, psychological, environmental, and medical issues.
  • Develops and implements treatment plans with measurable goals addressing client needs.
  • Provides clinical treatment services including triage, crisis intervention, individual, group, and family therapy, screening, and planning.
  • Maintains networks of social and clinical services to assist clients in meeting identified needs.
  • Maintains social work treatment and standards as required.
  • Performs forensic evaluations and court testimony as required.
  • Provides clinical supervision to Licensed Master Social Workers.
  • Consults and collaborates with other behavioral health providers to improve service delivery to clients.
  • Participates in research projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Licensure as a clinical social worker in the State of Connecticut.
  • Correctional or forensic behavioral health treatment experience.
  • Experience with crisis intervention.
  • Experience with behavior management.
  • Experience with individual and group psychotherapy.
  • Experience with criminal justice involved adults.

Qualifications

  • Licensure as a clinical social worker in the State of Connecticut.
  • Eligibility for participation in federal health care programs as defined in 42 U.S. § 1320a-7b(f).
  • Knowledge of social work methodology, casework, group work, and community mobilization.
  • Family and interpersonal relationship dynamics.
  • Values, sanctions, purposes, and ethics of professional social work.
  • Social, cultural, economic, medical, psychological, and legal issues influencing attitudes and behaviors of clients and families.
  • Mental illnesses and approaches to treatment.

Skills

  • Ability to devise and implement a treatment plan with measurable goals addressing client needs.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Oral and written communication skills.

Pay

$90,629 - $122,474/year

Schedule

Full-time, 40 hours per week on second shift at MacDougall-Walker Correctional Institution, Monday-Friday between 2:00pm and 10:00pm with rotating weekend and holiday shifts.
