Position Summary

Utilizing clinical social work techniques and theory, consults on, assesses, and intervenes with high-risk patients and their families regarding the impact/amelioration of emotional and social problems.

Duties

  • Conducts psychosocial assessments
  • Makes a psychosocial diagnosis
  • Plans and implements effective treatments
  • Evaluates, educates, supervises, coaches, and mentors the patient (client) and family members
  • Consults and collaborates with healthcare team members
  • Provides psychotherapeutic treatment and/or psychosocial support
  • Maintains patient confidentiality
  • Maintains competency in areas of responsibility
  • Participates in staff meetings and in-service education programs
  • Supports graduate and undergraduate training programs
  • Represents department throughout hospital and outside community
  • Performs other duties as needed

Essential Responsibilities / Duties

  • Affirms emotional and social problems
  • Identifies issues needing intervention
  • Formulates a treatment plan
  • Reports suspected cases of abuse and neglect
  • Involves patient’s family through initial assessment
  • Collaborates with healthcare team members
  • Treats and supports patient and family
  • Uses Social Work techniques and theory
  • Assesses patients within specified timeframes
  • Maintains patient confidentiality
  • Documents each patient encounter
  • Supervises other department personnel
  • Complies with departmental, regulatory, and professional requirements
  • Supports graduate and undergraduate training programs
  • Identifies and recommends department improvements
  • Attends department committees
  • Represents department in external community
  • Notifies supervisor about special patient groups

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree from an accredited school of Social Work
  • Massachusetts Licensed Certified Social Worker (or obtained within six months of employment)
  • Knowledge of Social Work process and community resources
  • Advanced interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
  • Interdisciplinary team interaction
  • Cultural sensitivity and comfort with diverse populations
  • Bicultural/Bilingual competency (a plus)
  • Computer literacy with standard word processing, spreadsheet programs, and email capabilities

Compensation

$34.81- $43.26 per hour. This range offers an estimate based on the minimum job qualifications. However, our approach to determining base pay is comprehensive, and a broad range of factors is considered when making an offer. This includes education, experience, and licensure/certifications directly related to position requirements.
