1.0 FTE position reporting to the Director of Clinical Skills and Simulation.

About the role

Midwestern University is a private, not-for-profit institution offering graduate and post-graduate education in the health sciences across campuses in Downers Grove, Illinois and Glendale, Arizona.

Responsibilities

  • Design, coordinate, and evaluate simulation experiences across multiple health professions and programs for novice to experienced learners.
  • Coordinate logistics for multi-program simulation activities, including scheduling, resource allocation, and stakeholder communication.
  • Ensure alignment of simulation activities with learning objectives and best practices.
  • Serve as course director or co-director for graduate-level, academic classes and/or electives as assigned, including interprofessional education.
  • Provide faculty development in simulation-based pedagogy, debriefing techniques, and assessment strategies.
  • Provide lectures, small group facilitation, debriefing, or assessment in a simulated environment.
  • Assist in data collection, data analysis, and grant writing for simulation-based research.
  • Develop working relationships with administrators, faculty, staff, and students within the institution as well as with other simulation centers and educational organizations.
  • Contribute to strategic growth and innovation of simulation-based education across campuses.
  • Other teaching duties as assigned by the respective college of the employee’s faculty appointment, if applicable.

Requirements

  • Master's or Doctorate degree from an accredited institution required.
  • At least 5 years of previous clinical experience, preferably as a Physician, Physician Assistant, Pharmacist, etc.
  • Experience with teaching in healthcare education settings highly desirable.
  • Experience in developing and implementing simulation experiences for healthcare/academia, and/or across healthcare delivery systems also highly desirable.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to work with regular, in-person, predictable attendance.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and stoop; reach with hands and arms; use hands to handle, feel, or type; talk, and hear.
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds and regularly lift and/or move up to 5 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job are correctable to 20/20 vision.
