A Day in the Life of a Junior Specimen Processor

This entry-level position is responsible for facilitating operations within Clinical Services by ensuring the efficient receipt, organization, and distribution of incoming specimens. The role is primarily focused on opening incoming specimen shipments from a variety of sources, including pathology laboratories, hospitals, and clinics, and verifying that each specimen is matched with the appropriate accompanying documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Sort specimens according to test type and distribute them to the appropriate laboratory areas for processing while ensuring timely delivery to designated personnel
  • Assist with recordkeeping activities, such as filing and scanning documents
  • Provide operational support as directed by supervisors
  • Adhere to all company policies, applicable standard operating procedures, and quality requirements to ensure accurate and efficient workflow

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 1 year of experience in a laboratory or clinical setting (preferred)

Schedule

Monday-Friday, in office 5 days a week from 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, working from the Phoenix, AZ office location.
