About the role

The job manages a team of professional staff responsible for the financial and management functions of a department in support of teaching, medical research and clinical care. It facilitates research initiatives of the faculty and staff. It develops departmental plans. It provides leadership and supervision to a staff of exempt and non-exempt employees.

Responsibilities

  • Manages professional employees and/or supervisors.
  • Is accountable for the performance and results of a team within own discipline.
  • Provides leadership and supervision to a staff of exempt and non-exempt employees.
  • Manages faculty recruitment and onboarding.
  • Adapts departmental plans and priorities to address resources and operational challenges.
  • Decides based on policies, procedures, and business plan; receives guidance and direction from senior manager.
  • Provides technical guidance to employees, colleagues and/or faculty.
  • Guides departmental compliance efforts by participating in training sessions, performing audits, and promoting an understanding of procedures, policies, and expectations.
  • Develops and prepares/utilizes reports to track financial and operational performance of the revenue cycle process.
  • Utilizes departmental and organization tools and reports to evaluate section volume and financial performance.
  • Supports chief and other departmental leaders in developing and deploying section level strategy aligned with departmental and organizational goals.
  • Provides leadership to managers and professional staff within a department to support teaching, medical research, and clinical care.
  • Supports non-medical activities of the department(s).
  • Manages policy development and implementation in various departmental areas.
  • Manages a team(s) including those within hospital functions.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Requirements

Education: Minimum Qualifications: A college or university degree in related field. Work Experience: Minimum requirements include 7+ years of work experience in a related job discipline. Certifications: Preferred Qualifications: Advanced degree in business, health care administration or related field. Experience: Healthcare and/or academic medical experience. Supervisory experience. Demonstrated budgeting and forecasting experience strongly preferred. Previous coding and charge capture experience, as well as thorough working knowledge of ICD-10CM and CPT-4 coding systems strongly preferred. Previous experience with charge capture management and gross revenue management. Experience in Epic revenue cycle and/or clinical applications. Prior experience in a hospital finance setting (i.e. reimbursement, chargemaster, patient financial services, hospital operations, etc.).
