About the role

The Clinical Research Center for Developmental Language Disorder at the University of Houston is seeking applications for a Research Coordinator to support an NIH-funded, multi-year epidemiological longitudinal cohort study.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate day-to-day research operations for a multi-phase epidemiologic and clinical research project.
  • Track recruitment, follow-up, retention, and study status across participants and study phases.
  • Maintain sampling-frame documentation, recruitment logs, contact records, study notes, and other project records needed for reproducibility and reporting.
  • Serve as a liaison across collaborating projects and cores to support consistent record keeping, shared procedures, and cross-project communication.
  • Affiliate with REDCap-based workflows, including form planning, field testing, record review, and communication between investigators, study staff, and data personnel.
  • Support human-subjects research activities, including study documentation, regulatory organization, and coordination of protocol-related materials.
  • Monitor incentive and gift card tracking logs and maintain accurate documentation of participant payments and related records.
  • Conduct routine data review, data quality checks, and basic descriptive summaries to support study monitoring and reporting.
  • Help prepare reports, presentations, and written project materials for investigators, meetings, and progress updates.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to problem solving around recruitment, operational workflow, and database needs.

Requirements

Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, clinical research, biostatistics, health services research, or a related field preferred.

Experience in clinical research, public health research, or population-based human subjects research strongly preferred.

Familiarity with REDCap, research tracking systems, or study database workflows preferred.

Experience with participant recruitment, retention tracking, field coordination, or cohort management preferred.

Comfort with basic data review, descriptive analysis, and reporting.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple streams of work in a collaborative research setting.

Qualifications

Fit with the research team and openness to interdisciplinary collaboration are essential.

This role is ideal for someone with training in epidemiology, public health, clinical research, or a related field who is comfortable working at the intersection of study operations, participant tracking, and data management.

Skills

  • Understanding of epidemiologic study design and sampling concepts.
  • Ability to maintain detailed, audit-ready documentation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with investigators, coordinators, community-facing staff, and data teams.
  • Experience coordinating across multiple projects or collaborating teams.
  • Strong attention to detail with good judgment and follow-through.

The appointment terms are for one year with the possibility of annual renewal for multiple years, pending expected funding.

A minimum commitment of 2–3 years is desired.
