About the role
The Research Sleep Technologist serves as the primary technologist for research-related sleep studies and data collection while maintaining competency in routine clinical sleep testing. This role is responsible for ensuring high-quality physiologic data, participant safety, protocol compliance, and research integrity.
Responsibilities
- Execute overnight research studies and participant monitoring.
- Ensure protocol compliance and research data integrity.
- Conduct research and clinical sleep studies with technical excellence.
- Support participant education and study completion.
- Maintain accurate documentation and audit-ready records.
- Troubleshoot equipment and technical issues.
- Maintain research equipment and study readiness.
- Collaborate with research, clinical, and operational teams.
- Support routine sleep laboratory operations as needed.
Requirements
- RPSGT or RRT-SDS credential required.
- Current BLS certification.
- Previous clinical research experience.
- Pediatric sleep experience.
- Strong understanding of sleep physiology and AASM standards.
- Strong technical troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent organizational and documentation abilities.
- Ability to work independently overnight.
- Strong communication and critical thinking skills.
Qualifications
- Preferred experience working on industry-sponsored studies.
- Experience with device validation projects.
- Experience with IRB-regulated research.
Skills
- Sleep Technology Polysomnographic acquisition software proficiency (Compumedics preferred).
- PSG/MSLT/MWT protocol execution.
- Research Methodology Good Clinical Practice (GCP) principles.
- Protocol deviation identification and reporting.
- Participant screening, enrollment, and informed consent execution.
- Source documentation and audit trail maintenance.
- Electronic data capture (EDC) platform proficiency.
- Clinical Systems EHR/EMR documentation including charge capture and order reconciliation.
- Study startup activities: site initiation readiness, delegation logs, training documentation.
- Operational Medical equipment calibration and preventive maintenance logging.
- Supply and inventory management across multi-study environments.
