About the role

Responsible for the management of multiple clinical research studies and the direct hiring and supervision of Clinical Research Coordinators. Serves as the key liaison with the sponsor, IRB, core laboratories, site P.I.’s, as well as all levels of study staff. Coordinates trial initiation, patient recruitment, and expedites project approval and study start-up time. Participates in developing and maintaining standard operating procedures, developing advertising strategies to support recruitment activities, and overseeing budget management and subcontracts with associated institutions.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise operations of all study staff.
  • Communicate cross-functionally with Research Management/Clinical Trials Office, MGB Healthcare Finance, MGH Legal Offices, MGB Innovation office, and scientific collaborators.
  • Prepare budgets for research sponsors (commercial, foundations, and federal funding sources) in collaboration with relevant Grants Administration and Research Management staff; use most updated MGB research budget templates for grant submissions for CfAA-related funding.
  • Ensure accurate and efficient budgeting.
  • Write operations manuals and participate in the formulation of policies and procedures for the study.
  • Prepare Case Report Forms.
  • Coordinate multi-center trials with NIH, FDA and private foundations.
  • Report study progress at investigators’ meetings.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
  • Master’s (MS/MA/MPH/MPP) or other equivalent degree preferred.

Experience

  • 5–7 years of research-related experience required.
  • 1–2 years of supervisory experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to make independent, effective decisions.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively supervise and train staff.
  • Strong database management and computer skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills to problem solve effectively.
  • Strong budget management skills.

Preferred Skills

  • At least 2 years of managerial experience in clinical research or grant coordination.

Pay

$63,252.80 – $102,596.00 per year (Grade 7)
