Clinical Research Nurse II, Cancer Center (Full-Time)

About the role

Research Nurses coordinate the clinical care of research patients and ensure research patient safety. Oncology clinical trial drugs have varying levels of toxicity, and Research Nurses monitor and assess patient responses and adverse events. They educate patients on drug safety and keep clinical research coordinators, physicians, and clinical staff informed on patient status.

Each Research Nurse works with an average of 8-20 active patients on 8-15 active studies, depending on the complexity and phase of the clinical trial. The Research Nurse is involved in the clinical research process from the time of the site evaluation visit and site initiation visit through to patients completing treatment on a trial.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate clinical care for research patients.
  • Ensure the safety of research patients.
  • Monitor and assess patient responses and adverse events related to oncology clinical trial drugs.
  • Educate patients on drug safety.
  • Communicate patient status updates to clinical research coordinators, physicians, and clinical staff.
  • Manage an average caseload of 8-20 active patients across 8-15 active studies.
  • Participate in the clinical research process from site evaluation and initiation through to patient treatment completion.
