About the role
The Department of Neurological Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh is in search of a Clinical Research Nurse II to support clinical research projects by coordinating projects and drug trials, assessing patients' qualifications, and facilitating protocols.
Responsibilities
- Collects and reviews patient data including medical histories and physical assessments, lab specimens and lab results and monitors results for adverse reactions
- Assists in study medication accountability and monitoring adverse events and protocol-specific treatments
- Assesses patients for inclusion and performs specialized nursing duties such as arterial puncture, venipuncture, and operation of electronic monitoring equipment
- Assists with lumbar puncture and multi-modality intracranial monitoring procedures
- Maintains and enters data into databases/logs in a timely and accurate manner
- Participates in the development of internal review board submissions as requested
- Collaborates with multiple investigators, sponsors, and research coordinators
- Assists with training of new staff and ongoing guidance of newer staff
- Performs general laboratory duties and specialized nursing duties
- Ensures regulatory adherence
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (minimum education level required)
- RN license in PA is required
- Minimum of 2 years of experience required
- No substitution in lieu of education or experience will be accepted
Schedule
- M-F 8:30am-5pm
- Occasional mornings, evenings and weekends as needed
- On call rotations required

- Must be able to walk, stand, or sit for long periods of time
- Must be able to use computer, telephone, copier, fax, and other essential office equipment
