About the role

This position will act as the clinical research coordinator for all projects in the Department of Urologic Surgery. The primary responsibilities of the position will involve day-to-day management of clinical trials in areas of data management, regulatory administration and direct patient contact relating to new and ongoing clinical research within the department. These trials can be both industry-sponsored and investigator-initiated studies. The position requires the use of skills to independently or with general direction coordinates and follow through in the overall administration and outcome of clinical studies. Occasional travel and overtime may be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • 60% - Data Management and Coordination
  • 35% - Regulatory Support and Administration
  • 5% - Other Clinical Trial Coordination and Administration

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma and sufficient experience and demonstrated relevant experience to successfully perform the assigned duties and responsibilities
  • Minimum one year of experience working with study subjects (research participants or patients)
  • Demonstrated experience starting and maintaining clinical trials and research projects according to the requirements of the National Health Institutes of Health, FDA, IRB, Office of Human Research Protection and sponsored guidelines
  • Demonstrated experience of regulatory process and data management activities
  • Experience obtaining informed consent from research participants
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Federal and State regulations for conducting research on human subjects; demonstrated knowledge of Good Clinical Practices for Clinical Research
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic anatomy and medical terminology
  • Display organizational skills and attention to detail so that large volumes of records can be accurately maintained and workload priorities can be determined in an appropriate way to accomplish a task or goal
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Display writing skills including ability to compose reports and correspondence while utilizing correct grammar, spelling and punctuation as well as clearly documenting research data onto forms
  • Analytical skills to independently and tactfully assume responsibility for coordination and completion of complex projects requiring interactions with many individuals in a matrix organizational structure
  • Ability to work with minimal direction and to take the initiative to follow up on projects
  • Demonstrated experience to exercise professional judgment, use creativity and decision-making to assess situations and needs, define problems, and develop strategies to meet long-range goals to improve processes within the scope of responsibility of the position
  • Demonstrated excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills to effectively correspond with the general public, co-workers, physicians, patients, caregivers, clinic staff, and other health care professionals
  • Display tact, diplomacy and flexibility to effectively deal with faculty, staff, agencies and others
  • Ability to represent the Department in a professional manner
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently under pressure despite frequent interruptions, flexibility to adapt to changes and function as a team player

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification by Society of Clinical Research Associates and/or Association of Clinical Research Professionals highly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field such as biology, health science, nursing, public health, or another life science highly preferred
  • Experience reviewing medical records and using an electronic medical record system
  • Knowledge and understanding of urology and disease processes as applied to clinical research
  • Knowledge of UCD University policies and guidelines

Pay

Salary or Pay Range: $36.35 - $58.45 hourly

Schedule

Shift (Work Schedule): Mon-Fri, 8am - 5pm
