We are looking to hire a Research Coordinator for our MercyOne Iowa Heart Center West Des Moines. As a Research Coordinator at MercyOne, Under supervision, to support the execution of clinical trials and research studies for Iowa Heart Center’s adult patients following established standards and practices. Serves as Iowa Heart Center’s resource in each research protocol. This position is in person- in the clinic
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and manage day-to-day clinical trial activities
- Recruit, screen, and enroll study participants according to study protocol criteria
- Obtain informed consent and ensure participant understanding of study procedures
- Coverage, Schedule, and conduct study visits, including follow up visits
- Collect, record, and maintain accurate study data and source documentation
- Organizes and assists with site visits by protocol sponsors monitoring CRA’s (clinical research associates)
- Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional affiliation and certification as per licensure requirements
- Monitor patient safety and report adverse events as required
- Completes necessary correspondence with drug company and IRB
- Maintains inventory of study supplies and IP - (study product/device/drugs)
- Ensures compliance with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), institution policies, and federal regulations
- Completes necessary paperwork and electronic data collection for research studies
- Aids in preparation of information for submission to Institutional Review Board (IRB) for approval
- Travels to Iowa Heart offices as needed
Requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certified or obtained within three (3) months of hire
- Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire
- High-school diploma required; Bachelor of Science (e.g., biology, health sciences) Medical assistant, LPN, and/or Paramedic certification preferred
- Clinical Healthcare experience in cardiology or research preferred
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Knowledge of medical terminology [preferred]
- Basic Computer proficiency (e.g., Microsoft office, data entry systems)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Valid Iowa Driver’s/Chauffeurs License required, must meet Mercy’s Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, must be at least 18 years of age and be eligible to drive per Iowa state law
- Three years of paramedic experience recommended for paramedic candidates
- Two years of critical care experience preferred or clinical cardiac equivalent experience preferred
