About the role

The position involves reviewing and processing clinical research charges, ensuring accurate payment according to coverage analysis, protocols, and budgets. The role collaborates with departments and study teams to resolve discrepancies and liaises with physician's and hospital billing teams.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews charges for active participants on clinical research studies in accordance with coverage analysis, protocol, and budget.
  • Assigns billing designations to ensure appropriate payment routing and processing.
  • Collaborates with departments and study teams to resolve issues related to charge routing, linking, and payment.
  • Assists in developing and implementing strategies to reduce review timelines and promote faster processing.
  • Investigates charge discrepancies and trends, and works with PB and HB teams to reconcile issues.
  • Maintains the Research Billing Report and workqueue to ensure timely filing deadlines.
  • Maintains awareness of research charge patterns and alerts manager to deviations.
  • Assists departments, study teams, and participants in reconciling incorrect billed claims.
  • Provides education and training to study teams on clinical research billing processes, study team responsibilities, and study account payment procedures.
  • Aids in creating clinical research charge reports for distribution to study teams.
  • Attends workshops and seminars to stay updated on billing policies and procedures.

Requirements

Requires a high school diploma. A bachelor's degree in healthcare or a related field is preferred. At least 3 years of medical billing experience, specifically in accounts receivable, is required. Proficiency in using an electronic medical record (EMR) system is essential. Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as organizational and analytical abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database applications is required. Demonstrated ability to work independently and handle confidential information with discretion is necessary. Must be able to work collaboratively with various departments and staff.

Qualifications

Must be eligible to work in the United States without requiring sponsorship for employment visa status.

Skills

Knowledge of medical terminology, third-party reimbursement, and proficiency in MS Office Suite and database applications are required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to pay close attention to detail and think critically, are essential. Must be able to work independently and remain focused despite interruptions.
