About the role

The Clinical Research Assistant will work with the research team led by Dr. Dhaval Bhavsar in Burn and Plastic Surgery research. The assistant will support entry-level clinical research activities, including collecting information from patients and study participants, and ensuring study activities are performed as scheduled. They will provide physicians, research coordinators, administrative staff, sponsors, and contractors with requested information and support.

Responsibilities

  • Research data collection and entry.
  • Administrative support for licensure and credentialing, general paperwork, scheduling, procurement, and correspondence.
  • Provide administrative assistance to the Principal Investigator.
  • Assist in editing and formatting grant proposals and manuscripts.
  • Maintain regulatory paperwork for research studies.
  • Recruit, evaluate, and educate patients regarding clinical trials following established procedures and protocols.
  • Conduct informed consent interviews with participants.
  • Document trial-related activities and ensure study data is reported accurately and timely.
  • Coordinate study participant visit activities, including scheduling procedures, communicating with subjects, and completing necessary basic study procedures.
  • Assist with transport or shipping of research biological specimens between clinical trial sites.
  • Provide written and verbal reports to the Principal Investigator and Program Director.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of relevant work experience. Relevant education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, genetics, pre-med, or a related field (preferred).
  • Experience in biomedical research (including internship, educational, or volunteer experience).
  • Prior cancer-related knowledge.
  • Basic understanding of regulations governing clinical research (e.g., GCP, HIPAA).
  • Experience with electronic medical records.
  • Experience with Endnote and PubMed.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $22.88 - $33.17 per hour, with a starting pay range estimated at the minimum to midpoint ($22.88 - $28.03) based on education, experience, qualifications, and funding.
