Clinical Research Assistant

About the role

The Division of Services Research, Study Management Unit at the University of Maryland School of Medicine’s Department of Psychiatry has an exciting opportunity for a full-time, contractual Clinical Research Assistant to join their team. The main duty of the Research Assistant (RA) is to collect data by conducting research interviews.

Responsibilities

The RA will assist with screening and recruitment of subjects for research studies, collect baseline and follow-up data from subjects, and assist with coordination of study recruitment. The RA will also monitor interviewers and procedures, assist in maintaining database files, and report on progress of programs, studies, and/or projects.

• Assist with performing data collection by conducting research interviews
• Assist with recruitment and screening of subjects for research studies
• Collect baseline and follow-up data from subjects, including verification of eligibility, obtaining consent and enrollment
• Conduct manualized one-on-one treatment interview sessions regarding smoking cessation with study participants
• Perform administrative duties, such as assisting with training and guidance to interviewers, developing and submitting grants, papers, abstracts, manuscripts, and presenting studies
• May perform telephone interviews, and check validity and accuracy of data ensuring compliance with quality control requirements and clinical relevance

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, or other scientific field of study related to the research of the clinical setting. A Master’s degree is preferred. Prior clinical research experience working with adults is also preferred.

Qualifications

The candidate should possess knowledge of clinical recruitment and interviewing methods, and be able to perform the position in compliance with all requirements, regulations, and laws. The candidate should also have the ability to maintain high standards with the work being performed, and maintain awareness with trends and influences.

Pay

The hiring range for this position is $49,000 - $51,000, commensurate with education and experience.
