Clinical Research Assistant
The successful candidate will assist with administrative activities associated with the conduct of research studies under the supervision of the Principal Investigator. Duties include:
- Avoidance of non-compliance with research protocols
- Completion and submission of study-related documentation
- Maintenance of enrollment goals
- Coordination of tasks related to research subjects, including the development of informed consents and screening materials, scheduling visits, and acting as a liaison between participants and the research team
- Collection of data from patient charts, medical records, interviews, questionnaires, diagnostic tests, and other sources
- Collection of research specimens as directed in the protocol
- Ensuring compliance with protocol guidelines and requirements of regulatory agencies
- Tracking and reporting adverse events and protocol deviations
- Coordination of site-related monitoring or auditing visits from sponsors and/or federal agencies during the course of the study and at closure
- Preparation, submission, and maintenance of IRB, OSP, and/or any other funding or regulatory documents and research correspondence
- Development and maintenance of patient databases and study maintenance logs, including training logs, delegation of responsibility logs, screening logs, and enrollment logs
The position requires local travel between Roanoke and New River Valley locations. Pre-employment background checks, driving, and drug panel screenings are required. The candidate must have previous research experience, preferably with human subjects, and possess demonstrated organizational skills and an understanding of safety protocols. The candidate should have open availability to work weekends and nights as needed.
The starting salary for this position is $42,000, with potential for commensurate increases based on experience. The position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime. The appointment type is restricted, and the hours per week are 40. The review date for applications is August 14, 2026. The position requires the completion of IATA certification within 60 days of hire. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a criminal conviction check.
