About the Role

The Clinical Registered Dietitian I will assess nutritional status and develop evidence-based nutrition care plans for patients across the lifespan with conditions such as Type 2 diabetes, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, metabolic syndrome, and weight management. This role is integral to Adelante’s team-based primary care medical home model, supporting coordinated, patient-centered, and comprehensive healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Use the Nutrition Care Process to provide comprehensive nutrition assessments, suggest appropriate interventions, and document care plans in the electronic health record.
  • Communicate and coordinate relevant patient information among the care team and treating clinicians to maintain proper care plans.
  • Evaluate and educate patients on nutrition-related medications, dietary supplements, and drug-nutrient interactions.
  • Develop, write, and review written nutrition-related patient education materials and guidelines for preventive health promotion.
  • Educate interdisciplinary staff on dietetic nutrition education guidelines as needed.
  • Refer patients to appropriate interprofessional team members, resources, or programs.
  • Conduct quality assurance according to federal guidelines.
  • Provide telehealth education using landline, Jabber, or Zoom via desktop or personal mobile device.
  • Attend trainings and conferences for continued professional development.
  • Promote and participate in interdisciplinary communication and collaboration to enhance care delivery.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Dietetics or nutrition-related degree preferred (required for new graduates); Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics or nutrition-related degree required.
  • New graduate to two (2) years’ experience in community or clinical nutrition education programs or completion of a dietetic internship with RD/RDN credentials.
  • Current credentials as a Registered Dietitian (RD) or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • Certification to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and AED through courses following American Heart Association or Red Cross guidelines.
  • Valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety for all specialty behavioral health locations.
  • Demonstrated excellence in customer service and ability to interact with employees and clients at all levels.
  • Competency in nutrition education methods and techniques.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and relevant program-related applications.
  • Experience working with people of various cultures.
  • Experience with motivational interviewing.
  • Valid Arizona driver’s license and current auto insurance.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and prioritize tasks.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred.
  • Willingness to travel to multiple locations as requested.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The role may require sitting for long periods, standing, walking, using hands to handle objects, reaching with hands and arms, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds without assistance and occasionally up to 50 pounds with assistance. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The work environment may expose the employee to weather conditions when traveling to various clinic sites. Noise levels are usually moderate, and the employee may be subject to health hazards (e.g., contagious diseases, bloodborne pathogens) when working in clinic areas.
