Clinical Quality Specialist

About the role

The Clinical Quality Specialist supports Vail Health’s Quality department, leaders, staff, and providers in improving health outcomes and advancing healthcare quality across the system. This role utilizes the eight domains of the National Association of Healthcare Quality’s (NAHQ) competency framework to guide efforts and achieve organizational quality goals:

Responsibilities

• Advance the organization’s commitment to healthcare quality through collaboration, learning opportunities, and effective communication.
• Use performance and process improvement, project management, and change management methods to support quality initiatives and organizational goals.
• Evaluate and improve healthcare processes and care transitions to enhance efficient, effective, and safe care for defined populations.
• Leverage the organization’s analytic environment to guide data-driven decision-making and inform quality improvement initiatives.
• Cultivate a safe healthcare environment by promoting safe practices, nurturing a just culture, and improving processes to detect, mitigate, or prevent harm.
• Direct organization-wide processes for evaluating, monitoring, and improving compliance with internal and external requirements.
• Lead the organization’s preparation for, participation in, and follow-up on regulatory, accreditation, and certification surveys.
• Direct activities supporting compliance with voluntary, mandatory, and contractual reporting requirements for data acquisition, analysis, reporting, and improvement.
• Engage in the healthcare quality profession with a commitment to ethical practice, competence enhancement, and field advancement.
• Provide clinical expertise to teams across the organization and within the Quality Department.
• Role model the principles of a Just Culture and Organizational Values.
• Perform other duties as assigned and maintain HIPAA compliance.

Requirements

• 3 years of experience in one of the following preferred:
  • Healthcare quality improvement, abstraction, or reporting.
  • Clinical care with evidence of quality improvement participation.
  • Quality planning, control, or improvement in a non-healthcare setting.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing or another related field required.
• If in a licensed profession, current licensure/certification/registration is required for the state worked.
• Preferred certification in one of the following:
  • Healthcare Quality (CPHQ, CJCP, etc.)
  • Lean Six Sigma
  • Project Management

Pay

Hourly pay range: $89,315.20 USD – $123,260.80 USD, based on relevant education and experience.
