About the role
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in implementing and evaluating programs within the Integrative Oncology Unit, contributing significantly to the development of evidence-based holistic and patient-centred approaches to supportive cancer care. This role is perfect for those looking to leverage their skills in a multifaceted environment while shaping innovative interventions and supporting the continued growth and development of a specialist cancer psychology service.
Responsibilities
- Deliver expert psychological care, psychoeducation and support to patients and families/carers of Alfred cancer patients at all stages of the cancer journey including after diagnosis, during active treatment and post treatment.
- Work in the Integrative Oncology Unit, an outpatient service established in August 2024, whilst also working closely with the existing cancer psychology service.
- Contribute to the development of evidence-based holistic and patient-centred approaches to supportive cancer care.
- Implement and evaluate programs within the Integrative Oncology Unit.
- Provide supervision and mentorship to psychologists and foster professional growth within the Alfred Cancer team.
- Leverage skills in providing psychological services to individuals with serious and chronic health conditions, preferably cancer/oncology services.
- Develop, implement and evaluate evidence-based interventions such as mindfulness, cognitive-behavioural therapy and other therapeutic and integrative approaches relevant to supportive cancer care.
Requirements
- Master or doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology or Clinical Health Psychology
- Registration under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Victoria) Act 2009.
- 5 years’ experience working as a psychologist
- Endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist/Clinical Health Psychologist under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Victoria) Act 2009
- *Approved PBA Supervisor (P3 applicants)
- Experience in providing psychological services to individuals with serious and chronic health conditions, preferably cancer/oncology services
- Skills and experience in developing, implementing and evaluating evidence-based interventions such as mindfulness, cognitive behavioural therapy and other therapeutic and integrative approaches relevant to supportive cancer care.
