Clinical Psychologist Consult/Liaison and Mental Health Access Teams - EDRP Authorized

About the role

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application.

Responsibilities

• Conduct brief psychological assessments and diagnostic evaluations for inpatient medical patients, including cognitive screenings and determining need for neuropsychological or dementia evaluations.
• Provide brief, evidence-based psychological interventions tailored to inpatients with medical and co-occurring mental health conditions.
• Affirm patient capacity/competency for medical decision-making and independent living.
• Deliver crisis intervention services, including suicide risk assessments, safety planning, and evaluation for involuntary holds.
• Serve as an interdisciplinary team member, offering psychological expertise to medical, nursing, and other clinical staff.
• Educate and support patients, families, and caregivers on psychological concerns, coping, and treatment options.
• Maintain timely, accurate documentation in compliance with VA standards.

Qualifications

• PhD in Psychology from an APA, PCSAS, or CPA accredited program.
• Doctoral degree in any area of psychology with successful completion of a re-specialization program accredited by APA or CPA.
• Doctoral degree awarded between 1951 and 1978 with a dissertation primarily psychological in nature.
• One-year supervised internship experience in a site acceptable to the doctoral program.
• Licenses to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
