Clinical Program Therapist 3 - Substance Use Disorder

Full-time, unlimited position
Day Shift: 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday

About the Role

As a Substance Use Therapist, you will provide therapeutic programming to clients in an alcohol and other drug treatment program within a Minnesota Correctional Facility (MCF) with incarcerated individuals. You will independently handle all aspects of program content, including security, assessment/evaluation, psycho-educational programming, monitoring, reporting, teaching, training, and lead work functions as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group therapy for substance use disorders
• Conduct assessments and evaluations of clients
• Develop, implement, and monitor treatment plans
• Create continuing care plans for clients
• Deliver psycho-educational programming
• Perform lead work functions, including providing direction to other behavioral health staff
• Maintain proficient documentation and reporting
• Ensure security protocols are followed within the correctional facility

Requirements

• Current licensure or eligibility for licensure through reciprocity by the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) or equivalently qualified to perform alcohol and drug counseling under Minnesota Statute 148F.11
• Successful candidate who is eligible for LADC licensure must possess a temporary ADC permit within 60 calendar days of the first day of employment and current LADC license within the 6-month probationary period
• Three (3) years of experience providing behavioral health services, including individual and group therapy
• An associate’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field may substitute for six months of experience; a bachelor’s degree may substitute for one year; a master’s degree may substitute for two years

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in psychology, social work, or a related behavioral/social science program, or a Psy.D. or Ph.D. in Psychology
• Current Minnesota licensure as a Mental Health Professional (e.g., LICSW, LP, LPCC, and LMFT) as defined by Minnesota Statute 245.462 subd. 18, clause 1-6
• Experience providing lead work direction to other behavioral health staff
• Experience working in a correctional/secured environment
• Experience providing services to clients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders

Skills

• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including proficient documentation
• Excellent interpersonal and human relation skills
• Ability to provide substance use treatment and formulate treatment plans
• Ability to develop continuing care plans

Additional Requirements

• Review and sign a Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) for this position
• Tuberculosis screening prior to hire
• Criminal history check, including successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements
• Employment history and reference checks, including review of job performance and discipline records
• Fingerprinting within the first 30 days of employment
• Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States; the DOC will not sponsor work visas

Pay

$32.97 - $48.60 hourly; $68,841 - $101,476 annually
