Clinical Program Therapist 3 - Substance Use Disorder

About the role
As a Substance Use Therapist, you will provide therapeutic programming to clients in an alcohol and other drug treatment program within a Minnesota Correctional Facility (MCF) with incarcerated individuals. You will independently handle all aspects of program content, including security, assessment/evaluation, psycho-educational programming, monitoring, reporting, teaching, training, and lead work functions as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Provide substance use treatment and therapeutic programming
- Conduct assessments and evaluations of clients
- Develop, implement, and monitor treatment plans
- Create continuing care plans for clients
- Deliver psycho-educational programming
- Perform lead work functions, including providing direction to other behavioral health staff
- Maintain proficient documentation and reporting
- Ensure security protocols are followed within the correctional facility
Requirements
- Current licensure or eligibility for licensure through reciprocity by the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) or equivalently qualified to perform alcohol and drug counseling under Minnesota Statute 148F.11.
- Note: License-eligible applicants must include licensure eligibility information in their resume or application. Successful candidates must obtain a temporary ADC permit within 60 calendar days of employment and a current LADC license within the 6-month probationary period.
- Three (3) years of experience providing behavioral health services, including individual and group therapy
- An associate’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or a related field may substitute for six months of experience; a bachelor’s degree may substitute for one year; a master’s degree may substitute for two years of experience
- Verbal and written communication skills, including proficient documentation
- Strong interpersonal and human relation skills
- Ability to provide substance use treatment, formulate and implement treatment plans, and develop continuing care plans
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree in psychology, social work, or a related behavioral/social science program, or a Psy.D. or Ph.D. in Psychology
- Current Minnesota licensure as a Mental Health Professional (e.g., LICSW, LP, LPCC, LMFT) as defined by Minnesota Statute 245.462 subd. 18, clause 1-6
- Experience providing lead work direction to other behavioral health staff
- Experience working in a correctional or secured environment
- Experience providing services to clients with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders
Physical Requirements
The selected candidate is required to review and sign a Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) for this position. Tuberculosis screening is required prior to hire.

- Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check, including successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation
- Employment history, reference checks, and review of job performance and discipline records may be conducted
- New employees will be fingerprinted within the first 30 days of employment
- The Minnesota Department of Corrections does not sponsor work visas; applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Pay
$32.97 - $48.60 hourly
$68,841 - $101,476 annually
Schedule
Day shift: 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM
Monday - Friday
No travel required
