About the role
With limited supervision, the Clinical Staff Leader (CSL) reports to the Nurse Manager. For each shift worked, the CSL functions as the department's designated nurse leader providing operational oversight and staff supervision. The CSL works in coordination with nursing leadership. The position ensures the achievement of optimal evidence-based patient care and department goals through efficient daily operations and compliance with established rules, regulations, and guidelines. The CSL promotes Shared Governance structure and functions.
Responsibilities
- Provide operational oversight and staff supervision for each shift worked
- Coordinate with nursing leadership to achieve optimal evidence-based patient care and department goals
- Ensure efficient daily operations and compliance with established rules, regulations, and guidelines
- Promote Shared Governance structure and functions
- Provide leadership presence and staff support with coverage for a minimum 1 holiday per year and 2 weekend shifts per six (6) weeks of unit staffing schedule, or the equivalent of 3 weekend shifts every 2 schedules
Qualifications
- BSN required and completion of MSN or graduate degree in related field acceptable from an accredited college/university within four years
- Two years of clinical experience in area of expertise required
- Successful completion of RN III Clinical Ladder advancement within 2 years in position required
- Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider required
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification required
- Excellent collaboration and consultation skills required
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills required
- Basic computer knowledge including Microsoft Office
- Familiar with quality improvement methodology
- Advanced certification in a specialized field preferred
