About the Role
The Clinical Education Coordinator supports the administration, coordination, and continuous improvement of the clinical phase of the Physician Assistant Program. In collaboration with the Director of Clinical Education (DCE), Program Director, faculty, preceptors, and clinical partners, the coordinator facilitates all aspects of supervised clinical practice experiences (SCPEs), student compliance, preceptor onboarding, clinical site management, accreditation documentation, and program assessment activities. The position serves as a primary administrative liaison between the PA Program, students, preceptors, and affiliated clinical sites.
Responsibilities
- Maintain clinical affiliation agreements in collaboration with university administration.
- Aid the Director of Clinical Education in identifying, recruiting, and retaining qualified clinical preceptors.
- Maintain accurate records of clinical sites, preceptors, credentials, specialties, and contact information.
- Collaborate with preceptors for onboarding and orientation activities.
- Support annual evaluation of clinical sites and preceptors.
- Coordinate student assignments to supervised clinical practice experiences (SCPEs).
- Prepare and distribute clinical schedules and rotation assignments.
- Communicate placement information to students, faculty, and preceptors.
- Monitor rotation capacity and assist with clinical placement problem-solving.
- Maintain clinical scheduling databases and tracking systems.
- Monitor student compliance with immunizations, certifications, background checks, drug screening, HIPAA training, OSHA training, and site-specific requirements.
- Ensure compliance documentation is completed prior to clinical placement.
- Maintain confidential student records related to clinical eligibility.
- Communicate compliance deficiencies and deadlines.
- Career evaluations, preceptor evaluations, and site evaluations.
- Aid with PAEA examination administration and tracking.
- Maintain student clinical records and documentation.
- Generate reports regarding student progression and clinical experiences.
- Support clinical faculty meetings and committee activities.
- Aid with collection and maintenance of documentation required for ARC-PA accreditation.
- Compile clinical education data for annual reports, self-study reports, and accreditation reviews.
- Generate reports related to clinical placement sufficiency, student outcomes, and preceptor evaluations.
- Support continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Serve as a primary administrative liaison with healthcare systems, clinical sites, and preceptors.
- Coordinate communication regarding student placements and site requirements.
- Aid in the development of new clinical partnerships.
- Aid with maintaining positive relationships with clinical affiliates.
- Career education events and orientation.
- Assist with preceptor development activities.
- Career clinical education workshops, recognition events, and appreciation activities.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, the capacity to prioritize multiple tasks, and the flexibility to adjust to changing priorities as needed.
- Strong customer service orientation with professionalism maintained in all interactions—whether by phone, email, or in person.
- Ability to apply a creative and proactive approach in developing and implementing efficient practices and systems, as well as a willingness to learn new skills.
- Attention to detail, the ability to multitask effectively, and a commitment to maintaining confidentiality are all critical to success in this position.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of Physician Assistant Education and/or clinical experience.
- Previous experience with health professions and academia.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Exxat, Blackboard LMS, and ExamSoft.
Pay and Benefits
Targeted hiring range is $66,000-$71,000 and full university benefits that include 22 days of annual leave, up to 17 holidays, personal and sick days; excellent health, life, and retirement plans; and tuition remission.
