Clinical Practice Assistant
The Clinical Practice Assistant position at Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) Medical Specialty Clinic at CHA Cambridge Hospital is a full-time, day shift role. This position combines administrative and clinical responsibilities, serving patients in various specialties including Cardiology, Dermatology, Endocrinology, and more.
About the Role
This role is essential for the ambulatory team, ensuring smooth operations and meeting both clinical and administrative needs. The Clinical Practice Assistant will manage patient flow, schedule appointments, perform insurance verifications, assist with medical histories, and document in the electronic health record.
Responsibilities
- Actively and efficiently manage patient flow through the clinic
- Greet patients professionally and take accurate detailed electronic messages
- Schedule patient appointments electronically using Epic
- Execute insurance verifications
- Room patients and assist providers with medical histories
- Document in the electronic health record
- Check routine vital signs and point of care testing
- Assist providers with clinical procedures
- Book screening tests as part of the outreach process and follow up appointments
- Send templated letters and call patients by telephone
- Perform other duties as required
Qualifications/Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Graduation from an accredited medical assistant program or one year of previous experience as a medical assistant in lieu of program completion required
- Maintain current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification
- Ability to write and verbally communicate in English. Fluency in a second language is preferred
- Current experience as a Medical Assistant preferred
- Experience with administrative duties in a clinical setting preferred
