Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, Ambulatory Care FT
About the role
Provides pharmaceutical care according to professional standards and practices, complying with all Federal and State regulations in the practice of Pharmacy at Virtua. Delivers clinical pharmacy services including direct patient care in primary care clinics, with a focus on rural health outcomes related to chronic diseases. Collaborates with the Virtua Specialty Pharmacy, provides education to providers and nurses, and serves as a resource for drug information. Develops guidelines and protocols, and educates the pharmacy department and clinical departments as needed. Participates in system-wide committees such as the Pharmacy & Therapeutics Committee, and precepts pharmacy residents and students.
Responsibilities
- Participates in patient rounds (or equivalent) with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers.
- Evaluates medication prescribing patterns and identifies opportunities for improving drug therapy.
- Conducts Drug Use Evaluations.
- Provides education to patients, families, and other healthcare practitioners.
- Participates in medication safety initiatives.
- Develops and maintains specific routine monitoring criteria for patients within key sub-specialty areas.
- Represents the Pharmacy Department in system-wide and divisional committees as needed.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited College of Pharmacy with a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree or BS and comparable clinical experience.
- PGY-1 residency required; PGY-2 Ambulatory Care preferred.
- Active New Jersey pharmacy license.

Pay
$124,602 - $199,995 yearly.
