About the role
Works with members of the health care team to provide safe and effective drug therapy. Serves as a drug information resource to pharmacy, nursing, and medical staffs as well as to patients.
Responsibilities
- Safely dispenses medications according to physician orders and patient needs.
- Provides medication education to patients and their families.
- Monitors patient response to medications and reports adverse effects.
- Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory standards and policies.
Requirements
- Current pharmacist license from state of practice.
- Completed PGY-1 or 4 years hospital pharmacy experience in specialty area.
- Eligible for Board of Pharmacy Specialties certification (preferred in area of specialty practice).
- Missouri pharmacists must have a Medication Therapy Service Certificate as issued by the Missouri Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of start date.
Qualifications
- Minimum requirement of Bachelor of Science (BS) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) in pharmacy degree.
Skills
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical principles and practices.
- Proficiency in computer systems used in pharmacy operations.
