Clinical Pharmacy Specialist- Ambulatory Care

About the role

Works with members of the health care team to provide safe and effective drug therapy. Serves as a drug information resource to pharmacy, nursing, and medical staffs as well as to patients.

Responsibilities

  • Safely dispenses medications according to physician orders and patient needs.
  • Provides medication education to patients and their families.
  • Monitors patient response to medications and reports adverse effects.
  • Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement treatment plans.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory standards and policies.

Requirements

  • Current pharmacist license from state of practice.
  • Completed PGY-1 or 4 years hospital pharmacy experience in specialty area.
  • Eligible for Board of Pharmacy Specialties certification (preferred in area of specialty practice).
  • Missouri pharmacists must have a Medication Therapy Service Certificate as issued by the Missouri Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of start date.

Qualifications

  • Minimum requirement of Bachelor of Science (BS) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) in pharmacy degree.

Skills

  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical principles and practices.
  • Proficiency in computer systems used in pharmacy operations.
