Clinical Pharmacist Specialist

About the role

This position is located at the Burnet Campus and offers a rotating shift schedule for a full-time role (40 hours per week, 1.0 FTE).

Responsibilities

• Patient Care: Provide comprehensive clinical pharmacy services to a specialty patient population, including attending medical team rounds, selecting and dosing medications, performing therapeutic drug monitoring, and adjusting therapies. Complete population-based drug use evaluations and performance improvement initiatives (e.g., order sets, Epic alerts, guidelines, protocols) to enhance patient outcomes and safety. Provide 24/7 on-call coverage for pharmacy clinical services to the assigned medical team.
• Teaching and Education: Serve as a preceptor and resource for Pharmacy Residents, Pharmacists (Pharmacist I, II, and III), pharmacy interns, and students. Present accredited continuing education programs to the Division of Pharmacy and assist in developing clinical therapeutic educational opportunities. Coordinate inservice education for medical and nursing staff in the assigned patient care area.
• Performance Improvement: Participate in improving organizational performance and patient safety by identifying and implementing improvement initiatives, as well as serving on committees and teams for the specialty patient population and the Division of Pharmacy.
• Research/Scholarly Activity: Actively participate in the development, implementation, and coordination of research projects. Share knowledge through posters, regional or national presentations, or publications.

Qualifications

• PharmD Degree
• Pharmacist License in the state of Ohio
• PGY1 Residency
• PGY2 Residency in pediatrics or a relevant patient population specialty
