About the role

At HCA Healthcare’s TriStar Summit Medical Center, the Staff Pharmacist plays a central role in ensuring safe, effective medication use for patients across the facility. The position involves a blend of clinical oversight, operational support, and collaboration with physicians and nursing staff to optimize therapeutic outcomes and maintain compliance with hospital policies and government regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Fill medication orders and verify accuracy before distribution
  • Monitor patient therapeutic medications and provide drug information to healthcare teams
  • Prepare and check intravenous (IV) admixtures and compounded medications
  • Resolve medication-related problems using strong problem-solving skills and consult with knowledgeable parties as needed
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of hospital policies and government regulations to ensure compliant dispensing
  • Consult with physicians and nursing staff regarding patient medication reactions, errors, and complaints
  • Assess and advise on potential drug interactions
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, inventory management, and pharmaceutical ordering
  • Document clinical activities and communicate findings using computerized systems
  • Apply knowledge of age-specific patient needs in all duties and responsibilities

Requirements

  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Pharmacy
  • Licensure in the State of Tennessee
  • Board Certification preferred
  • One-year hospital experience preferred
  • Residency preferred
