Responsibilities
- Interprets and clarifies orders for all types of medications.
- Researches and responds promptly to drug information requests.
- Maintains secure storage and records of all medications in accordance with manufacturer, state and federal requirements.
- Monitors drug therapies for appropriateness and formulary adherence.
- Manages the day-to-day activities of the pharmacy support staff.
- Prepares or oversees the compounding, labeling and packaging of sterile or non-sterile medications, products and pharmaceuticals in accordance with all regulatory requirements as applicable.
- Acts as a consultant on medication-related issues and assisting in coordinating the drug utilization programs.
- Assists in the development and maintenance of policies & procedures when warranted.
- Provides therapeutic drug monitoring of targeted medications as applicable.
- Monitors drug therapy for potential drug-drug, drug-food, and drug-disease interactions.
- Advises patients, family and medical staff on use of various medications including dosage, side effects, drug interactions and composition.
- Directly supervises the work of pharmacy technicians and support staff as required by the Colorado Board of Pharmacy.
Requirements
- Doctorate Degree PharmD (preferred) or BPharm
- 1-3 years PGY1 residency completion preferred
- PHA-Licensed Pharmacist - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies
Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of pharmacy
- Thorough knowledge of pharmacy related state and federal laws
- Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports
- Ability to demonstrate accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail
- Ability to demonstrate sound problem solving/decision making skills with practical, efficient, economical, and reasonable solutions
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Proficiency with electronic health record software, Epic preferred
