About the role
Interprets physician orders, including dosing, allergies, interactions, and reviews patient profiles.
Responsibilities
- Dispenses medications accurately and promptly, in appropriate quantities, using proper techniques (aseptic for IV admixtures, controlled substance paperwork).
- Performs clinical tasks such as renal dosing, kinetic dosing, and patient education.
- Manages inventory, ordering special items, converting to formulary, and handling expired stock.
- Provides accurate drug information to physicians, nurses, and patients.
- Utilizes Pyxis Directs and supervises pharmacy technicians effectively.
Qualifications
- Minimum knowledge and skills with computers, including Word and Excel.
- Education: BS or Pharm D from an accredited college of Pharmacy.
- Experience: Hospital experience preferred, but new graduates are eligible with hospital rotations.
