General Summary
Fill orders with accuracy; check technician prepared products before release; maintain security of pharmacy and controlled substances; enter orders and patient information with accuracy; aid in the training of new staff; update the Manager about the daily activities of the pharmacy; aid the Manager in maintaining the pharmacy.
These duties are to be performed in a highly confidential manner, in accordance with the mission, values and behaviors of Insight Hospital and Medical Center. Description
- Duties and Responsibilities:
- Verify appropriateness of medication orders.
- Check dispensed medications for accuracy, sterility, stability, as appropriate.
- Review and optimize medication therapy.
- Provide medication therapy education to healthcare professionals, as requested.
- Provide patient counseling of medication therapies.
- Reports daily to Clinical Pharmacy Manager on overall operations, projects assigned, and expectations of overall role.
- Rotating AM&PM including weekends.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge:
- One year of hospital experience preferred.
- Licensed to practice in pharmacy in the state where the pharmacy is located.
- Graduate of a college of pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE).
- Doctor of Pharmacy degree preferred.
- Hospital pharmacy residency preferred.
- Very good drug knowledge base including pharmacokinetics dosing and nutritional support.
- Skills:
- Effective communication skills, verbal and written;
- working computer knowledge.
- Abilities:
- Repetitive use of hands and fingers (i.e., use of computer keyboard) and labeling containers.
- Normal range of hearing and vision to perform work and communicate.
- Extended periods of standing and walking.
