General Summary

Fill orders with accuracy; check technician prepared products before release; maintain security of pharmacy and controlled substances; enter orders and patient information with accuracy; aid in the training of new staff; update the Manager about the daily activities of the pharmacy; aid the Manager in maintaining the pharmacy.

These duties are to be performed in a highly confidential manner, in accordance with the mission, values and behaviors of Insight Hospital and Medical Center. Employees are further expected to provide a high quality of care, service, and kindness toward all patients, staff, physicians, volunteers and guests.

Description

  • Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Verify appropriateness of medication orders.
  • Check dispensed medications for accuracy, sterility, stability, as appropriate.
  • Review and optimize medication therapy.
  • Provide medication therapy education to healthcare professionals, as requested.
  • Provide patient counseling of medication therapies.
  • Reports daily to Clinical Pharmacy Manager on overall operations, projects assigned, and expectations of overall role.
  • Rotating AM&PM including weekends.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

  • Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge:
  • One year of hospital experience preferred.
  • Licensed to practice in pharmacy in the state where the pharmacy is located.
  • Graduate of a college of pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE).
  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree preferred.
  • Hospital pharmacy residency preferred.
  • Very good drug knowledge base including pharmacokinetics dosing and nutritional support.
  • Skills:
  • Effective communication skills, verbal and written;
  • working computer knowledge.
  • Abilities:
  • Repetitive use of hands and fingers (i.e., use of computer keyboard) and labeling containers.
  • Normal range of hearing and vision to perform work and communicate.
  • Extended periods of standing and walking.
