Clinical Pharmacist - Inpatient
About the role
A caregiver in this Clinical Pharmacist – Inpatient role supports pharmacy operations at Akron General, providing medication preparation, distribution, and clinical oversight across multiple inpatient service lines. The caregiver collaborates closely with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, nursing staff, and other clinical caregivers while supporting activities such as patient chart review, order verification, medication troubleshooting, and pharmacy operational workflows. This role also assists with sterile and non-sterile compounding checks for Akron Main within a supportive, team-oriented hospital environment that offers broad learning exposure.
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, efficient, patient-centered, evidence-based medication services.
- Verify medication orders and/or dispenses medications accurately according to state and federal regulations.
- Document services in a complete, accurate and timely manner.
- Actively contribute to medication safety initiatives.
- Ensure all pharmacy operations are in compliance with national accreditation standards.
- Directs staff appropriately to provide safe and efficient care and maintain professional working relationships with all caregivers.
- Educate and train students, residents, other caregivers and/or patients.
Requirements
- PharmD or Bachelor’s of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited college of Pharmacy
- Current State licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible for reciprocation in current state within 90 days of hire
- For individuals required to administer immunizations, Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross and completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations or certification obtained within 90 days of hire are required
- For individuals required to respond to adult or pediatric cardiopulmonary arrest events, current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification through American Heart Association (AHA), or certification obtained within one (1) year of hire, is required
Qualifications
- Board Certification
- Completion of a post-graduate year 1 residency (PGY1), fellowship or relevant post-graduate pharmacy experience preferred
- Post-graduate year 2 residency (PGY2) or relevant experience preferred for Clinical Pharmacists hired in a Specialized Pharmacy practice area (i.e. Critical Care, Oncology)
- Prior inpatient experience

Pay
Minimum Annual Salary: $101,900.00 Maximum Annual Salary: $155,390.00
