Ensures safe, appropriate, and economical use of drugs through the application of specialized skills and knowledge in pediatric patient care.

Schedule

40 hours per week, Monday–Friday 8-hour shifts, with every 4th weekend staffing in the pharmacy department (which could be evenings) and rotating holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Provides drug information services by responding to questions regarding medication compatibilities, adverse drug events, regimens, dosing, interactions, storage and disposal, compounding, therapeutic uses of medications, and pharmaceutical supplies in a timely manner.
  • Uses a systematic approach to effectively search, retrieve, and evaluate literature and appropriately communicate and apply the information to patient care situations.
  • Assists with the development, maintenance, and implementation of hospital and department policies and procedures related to medication use, storage, restrictions, and administration.
  • Sustains and implements quality and safety initiatives and practices in the department and throughout the hospital.
  • Reports adverse drug events and medication variances using the hospital variance reporting program (QSRS).
  • Sustains clinical pharmacy services throughout the organization by providing pharmaceutical care for pediatric patients of all age ranges through participation in multi-disciplinary team rounds and/or care, emergency response, education, guidance, interpretation, and analysis of medication-related therapeutic issues.
  • Documents pharmaceutical interventions according to departmental standards; performs therapeutic drug monitoring and disease outcome analysis; and verifies medication orders in an electronic health record system in a timely manner.
  • Participates in general pharmacy operations throughout the organization through appropriate medication preparation, dispensing, and inventory control.
  • Provides oversight to pharmacy technicians, interns, residents, and students as needed.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy degree.
  • Completion of one year pharmacy residency or one year of pharmacy work experience accepted in lieu of residency.
  • BLS certification (American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or American Safety and Health Institute accepted).
  • State of Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) Pharmacist license.

Pay

Annual salary range (based on 40 hours worked per week): $125,036.77 to $187,555.16, dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
