About the role
The Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for conducting clinical pharmacy services and ensuring that the pharmacy provides optimal clinical services on a daily basis. This role works with the Manager, Pharmacy to facilitate the development, implementation, and maintenance of systems that promote desirable patient outcomes through the use of safe, cost-effective drug therapies. Additional duties may be assigned within the scope of the role.
Responsibilities
- Conduct clinical pharmacy services to ensure optimal daily pharmacy operations.
- Collaborate with the Pharmacy Manager to develop, implement, and maintain systems promoting safe and cost-effective drug therapies.
- Support desirable patient outcomes through evidence-based pharmaceutical care.
Requirements
- Graduate of a school of pharmacy required; PharmD degree preferred (or 2-3 years of clinical experience).
- Active RPH license required.
- Alabama Controlled Substance certification required.
- BLS certification required; ACLS certification required.
- BPS certification preferred.
- Additional certifications (e.g., PALS, NRP) may be required depending on assigned area.
Skills
- Commitment to continuing education.
- Proficiency in computer order entry.
- Accurate pharmaceutical calculations and metric system knowledge.
- Knowledge of aseptic technique.
- Clear verbal communication and hearing sensitivity for phone or in-person conversations.
- Continuous visual acuity at close and distant ranges.
Working Conditions
- 30% of the workday spent sitting; 70% spent in mobility-related activities.
- Occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching.
- Frequent reaching, use of hands, and repetitive actions.
- Continuous speaking with clear diction and hearing sensitivity.
- Inside environment protected from weather but not necessarily from temperature changes.
- Minimal noise levels with potential low-level background noise.
- Frequent computer work.
- Minimal exposure to hazardous chemicals.
