About the role

The CPE Certified Educator at Sanford Health supports the provision of spiritual care through education and supervision of CPE students, maintaining accreditation standards, and participating in interdisciplinary team meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accreditation and standards of the ACPE
  • Education and supervision of CPE students
  • Recruiting, interviewing, and selecting candidates for CPE internships
  • Direct clinical supervision of students
  • Developing student-centered learning curriculum
  • Mentoring and educating students in the certified educator candidate program
  • Coordinating student spiritual support with staff chaplains
  • Facilitating student orientation and training
  • Providing feedback and recognition to students
  • Offering timely and preemptive corrective intervention as needed
  • Participating in team meetings and interdisciplinary team rounds
  • Maintaining certification as a CPE Educator with the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education

Requirements

  • Master’s level theological degree from an accredited seminary
  • Experience providing spiritual care in an acute care or health care setting
  • Certified Educator certification required
  • National faculty preferred
  • Maintain certification as a CPE Educator with the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education
  • Ordination, endorsement or commissioned by faith tradition/denomination/church authority
  • Board Certified Chaplain with the Association of Professional Chaplains or certification eligible required; must obtain certification within two years of hire

  • Therapeutic understanding of spiritual and human dynamics
  • Knowledge of rituals

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills
