CLINICAL OR TENURE TRACK - PREVENTIVE & COMMUNITY

Major Responsibilities

Didactic instruction and clinical supervision in the Preventive clinic, Geriatrics & Special Needs clinics, and Geriatric Mobile Unit;
Providing/teaching continuing education courses in Preventive and/or Geriatrics & Special Needs dentistry;
Participation in the departmental intramural private practice;
and Scholarship to support and advance the specialty.

Required Qualifications

• Licensed to practice dentistry in the State of Iowa or eligible for Faculty Permit issued by the Iowa Dental Board;
• Successful completion of a one-year advanced education program in Geriatrics and Special Needs Dentistry;
• Extensive, relevant experience providing comprehensive dental care to frail, compromised, institutionalized, underserved, or special needs adult patients.

Desirable Qualifications

• Clinical experience teaching Preventive and/or Geriatrics and Special Needs Dentistry in an academic environment;
• Experience implementing curriculum and/or teaching innovations;
• Established record of research in Dental Public Health, Preventive or Geriatrics and Special Needs Dentistry and/or record of success acquiring extramural grant support;
• Experience providing didactic instruction and mentoring of dental public health Masters and PhD students;
• Certificate or Master’s in Dental Public Health, or relevant discipline.
