The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a clinical or tenure track (Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) position in Medical Oncology. The final track will be offered based on the qualifications and preferences of the successful candidate.
About the Animal Cancer Care & Research Center
The ACCRC is a premier small animal cancer research hospital delivering exceptional, comprehensive, and compassionate cancer care. It is on a steep upward trajectory in clinical care, research, and education, and benefits from its strategic location on the Carilion medical campus, directly alongside the Human Cancer Care Center.
Opportunities/Responsibilities
- Grow the clinical service with an emphasis on integrated clinical care, including medical, surgical, and radiation oncology.
- Consult with the Veterinary Teaching Hospital in Blacksburg and outside referring veterinarians.
- Participate in continuing education programs of the College and faculty governance activities.
- Maintain excellence in patient management, client service, and clinical teaching.
- Provide didactic and clinical instruction for DVM students, interns, residents, and graduate students.
- Engage in collaborative and translational research involving veterinary and human medical professionals.

Pay and Schedule
- Starting at $140,000 and commensurate with experience
- 24 days per year of leave and carry over of up to 288 hours per year
- Twenty-six weeks (1,040 hours) of personal sick leave upon hire
- Ten days can be used for family sick leave
- Paid parental leave (320 hours) used for birth, adoption, foster or custodial placement of a child and is available up to 6 months from date of event
- Can be used in addition to other leave
- Must have been employed for 12 consecutive months

Qualifications
- DVM or equivalent foreign degree by the date of hire
- Completion of an approved ACVIM-ECVIM-CA Oncology residency program by the date of hire
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Eligibility for a Virginia faculty veterinary license by the date of hire
- Successful completion of a criminal conviction check
Preferred Qualifications
- Diplomate status with ACVIM (oncology) or ECVIM-CA
- Experience in clinical or translational research
- Demonstrated leadership experience
