About the Role

The Clinical Supervisor assures delivery of safe, high-quality, and cost-effective care provided by competent co-workers. They ensure efficient utilization of available resources to meet productivity and financial goals. The Clinical Supervisor works collaboratively with administrative personnel, physicians, and co-workers to communicate and improve processes across the continuum. They ensure units are appropriately staffed to provide patient care and are proactively involved in patient flow and bed management issues in collaboration with the Staffing Office.

Clinical Supervisors are leaders who inspire a shared vision, demonstrating the value of change and presenting it with enthusiasm. They model professional standards, a positive attitude, and engage co-workers to become leaders of change. Clinical Supervisors challenge current processes and enable others to promote change by providing support, mentorship, and guidance. Clinical Supervisors hold direct and indirect care providers accountable for their professional responsibilities and adherence to policy and regulatory guidelines. They perform duties consistent with the Mission, Values, and Mercy Service Standards and are involved in the evaluation process in collaboration with the Clinical Manager as directed.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure delivery of safe, high-quality, and cost-effective patient care.
  • Optimize utilization of resources to meet productivity and financial goals.
  • Collaborate with administrative personnel, physicians, and co-workers to improve processes.
  • Ensure appropriate unit staffing for patient care.
  • Proactively manage patient flow and bed management issues.
  • Inspire and lead change with enthusiasm and professionalism.
  • Provide mentorship, support, and guidance to care providers.
  • Hold care providers accountable for professional responsibilities and policy adherence.
  • Participate in the evaluation process in collaboration with the Clinical Manager.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Nursing program.
  • Current RN license with the Board of Nursing in the applicable State of practice.
  • 3-5 years of hospital nursing experience.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider certification (or completion within probation period).
  • Certifications: TNCC, ACLS, and ENPC or PALS.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong human relations and communication skills (written, verbal, and electronic).
  • Clinical competence in patient care delivery.
  • Ability to assess data and assist personnel in providing appropriate care.

Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
