Clinical Operations Manager: Rehab Southern Region

About the role

The Operational Manager of Rehabilitation is responsible for the oversight, coordination, and leadership of all day-to-day clinic operations at rehabilitation services locations as assigned by the System Director for Rehabilitation Services. This position oversees multiple sites and service lines across various geographies, with significant budget accountability and a broad scope of responsibilities that directly impact the organization’s success.

The role involves close coordination with other rehabilitation services departments, ancillary departments (facilities, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, IT, infection control, etc.), and shared services to ensure seamless continuity of care. The Operational Manager works in a dyad relationship with the Director of Rehabilitation Services, sharing budget responsibility and driving organizational strategic goals, performance improvement, and capacity building while ensuring patient-centered, high-quality care.

Responsibilities

  • Directs administrative, professional, and management/supervisory staff in planning, developing, and implementing day-to-day clinic operations; assists in developing policies and procedures to enhance staff performance.
  • Ensures effective collaboration with clinical dyad partner(s) and serves as a liaison with patients, other SEARHC departments, private health providers, and external organizations.
  • Addresses patient and consumer concerns, incorporating feedback into clinic policies and healthcare planning.
  • Implements and monitors objectives aligned with the SEARHC Strategic Health Plan, Key Performance Indicators, Population Health, and The Joint Commission standards.
  • Utilizes continuous quality improvement tools to address operational issues and ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance.
  • Leads or participates in local quality improvement and safety initiatives.
  • Monitors patient satisfaction and responds promptly to complaints or concerns, implementing processes to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Optimizes personnel and financial resources, prepares annual budgets in collaboration with clinical partners and finance teams, and ensures efficient service delivery within budget.
  • Facilitates staff engagement and development by identifying training needs, coordinating training opportunities, and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Leads the transformation of SEARHC rehabilitation services, including EHR optimization and maximizing telehealth opportunities.
  • Collaborates with community, state-wide, and national programs to meet SEARHC objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (required); Master’s degree or higher (preferred).
  • Certification through the American College of Healthcare Executives, Medical Group Management Association, or similar organization (preferred).
  • Minimum of 7 years of clinic management or healthcare administration experience with a bachelor’s degree, or 3 years with a master’s degree. Experience must include supervision of professional staff and financial management (budget preparation and oversight).
  • Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare-related field can substitute for 3 years of clinic/healthcare administration experience.

Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of clinic practice management, including staffing, scheduling, and patient flow.
  • Working knowledge of the revenue cycle, facilities management, and infrastructure areas impacting clinics.
  • Knowledge of leadership and management principles, as well as TJC, CMS, HIPAA, and other regulatory standards.
  • Understanding of liability and risk management principles.
  • Strong administrative, supervisory, and organizational skills.
