Clinical Operations Manager
About the role
The Clinical Operations Manager (COM) for Respiratory Care Services (RCS) ensures that all programs, practices, policies, and procedures defining the provision of patient care and scope of practice for RCS are consistent with the Medical Center’s policies, goals, and quality standards.
The COM represents RCS on several medical center committees, is responsible for employee relations oversight, promotes employee engagement opportunities, personnel recruitment, personnel hiring and termination, and ensures that patients move safely and efficiently through the system, and that clinical teams have what they need – staff, space, equipment, and coordination – to deliver care without delay.
Responsibilities
- Ensure regulatory compliance and follow-up
- Represent RCS on medical center committees
- Oversee employee relations and promote engagement
- Recruit and terminate personnel
- Ensure patient flow and clinical team readiness
- Manage departmental resources and staffing
- Align staffing with real workload
- Support safe, compliant care delivery
- Facilitate alignment across service lines
- Translate frontline challenges into executive decisions
Requirements
- Current and valid CA Respiratory Care Practitioner License
- Current and valid Registered Respiratory Therapist credential from National Board for Respiratory Care
- American Heart Association (AHA) Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), or UC Davis Health CPR
- Bachelor's degree in a science or business field and / or equivalent experience / training
- Minimum five (5) years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist in an Acute Care Hospital
Qualifications
- Knowledge of the clinical and scientific basis and effects of Respiratory Care procedures, equipment and medications
- Ability to collect data and reports for the JC and the California Department of Public Health
- Adherence to departmental and hospital policies and procedures
- Professional communication in both verbal and written languages
- Basic computer skills and the ability to work on the computer for several hours each day
