About the role

The Per-Diem Pharmacist plays a crucial role in optimizing drug therapy and ensuring patient care. This position involves directing and coordinating pharmacy services, supervising support staff, and adhering to legal and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and coordinates pharmacy services
  • Supervises and verifies the accuracy of work performed by support personnel
  • Ensures compliance with target drug programs, formularies, and adverse drug event monitoring programs
  • Documents and reports clinical interventions, medication errors, and adverse drug events
  • Participates in departmental quality improvement efforts
  • Fulfills prescriptions under CDTM agreements when applicable

Requirements

  • Doctor of Pharmacy degree
  • Pharmacy license from the state of Massachusetts
  • Massachusetts Controlled Substances Registration
  • Experience working as a pharmacist for 2-3 years
  • Extensive knowledge of pharmacy practices, legal requirements, and patient care

Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge and ability in all areas of pharmacy, including IV admixtures, drug information, ambulatory care, manufacturing, and drug distribution
  • Attention to detail and ability to assess patient data relative to age-specific needs
  • Ability to follow department policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of pharmacy practice settings, legal requirements, and patient care principles

Skills and Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge and ability in all areas of the department
  • Attention to detail and assessment of patient data
  • Ability to provide care as outlined in department policies
  • Works independently and participates in quality improvement efforts
  • Trains medical, nursing, and allied health professionals
  • Completes 20 continuing education credits annually

  • Carrying frequently up to 20 lbs

  • Pulling occasionally
