Clinical Oncology Pharmacist

Responsibilities

• Provide pharmacy services to patients in the infusion center and medical oncology by overseeing treatment plans for accuracy and completeness and ensuring delivery of highest quality patient care.
• Collaborate with physicians and mid-level providers and recommend adjustments to drug therapy based on clinical status and treatment outcomes.
• Coordinate with clinical team to ensure all aspects of pharmaceutical care are delivered in a safe and timely manner.
• Supervise pharmacy technicians, coordinate work flow, and act as a resource for other infusion sites as needed.
• Participate in clinical research, education, professional development, and performance improvement.

Requirements

• Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy required.
• Board Certified Oncology Pharmacist (BCOP) or Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist (BCPS) preferred.
• Current Illinois State Pharmacy License required.
• 3-5 years as a pharmacist with Oncology experience, Hospital Pharmacy/Oncology Infusion Center experience preferred.
• Epic knowledge and experience preferred.
• Must possess ability to interpret and evaluate chemotherapy treatment protocols and non-chemistry regimens.
• Knowledge of and competency in hazardous medication management.
• Ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status, interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements and provide pharmaceutical care based on those needs.
• Adhere to local, state, and federal laws regarding the profession of pharmacy practice.

Qualifications

• Experience with pharmacy systems and word processing applications is beneficial.
• Strong customer service and teamwork orientation required.
• Mathematical skills required.
• Good interpersonal skills, initiative, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to organize, set priorities, and plan time to accomplish workload.
• Ability to coordinate work between multiple sites.
• Thorough knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, and other regulatory policies and requirements.
• Thorough knowledge of USP 797 and 800 clean room standards.
• Knowledge of third-party reimbursement programs and requirements.
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to dispensary and infusion area.

• Knowledge of pharmacy regulations.

• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA standards.

Pay

The compensation for this role includes a base pay range of $107,855-161,784, with the actual pay determined by factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. Additional compensation may be available through shift differentials, bonuses, and other incentives. Base pay is only a portion of the total rewards package.
