- 4/10s schedule: 9:00 AM – 7:30 PM or 10:00 AM – 8:30 PM with late shift coverage 2-4 times per 6-week schedule
- No weekends or holidays
- 24 hours of call per 6-week schedule
About the Role
Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is ranked as one of the nation's top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. The PACU team handles 40-60 cases per day, including eyes, ORS, breast, flaps, vascular, and gender reaffirming surgeries.
At Barnes-Jewish Hospital, PACU nurses work in a fast-paced environment that tests professional judgment and critical thinking skills while encouraging tremendous growth. You’ll collaborate with world-renowned surgeons and anesthesiologists, assist on unique and complex procedures, work with the latest technologies, and play a vital role in developing new procedures and treatment protocols.
Responsibilities
- Promotes patient and family-centered care in a healing environment.
- Educates patients and families on managing illness or injury, including post-treatment home care and medication administration.
- Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Participates in professional development.
- Develops, implements, and documents individualized plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team, patient, and family.
- Proactively plans and ensures communication of the care plan across the continuum of care.
- Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care.
- Assesses patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.

Requirements
- Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing (Bachelor's Degree preferred)
- Current RN licensure
- One year of critical care, PCU, or procedural experience preferred
- No prior supervisory experience required
